• In Case You Missed It

It’s been an exciting and busy couple of weeks since the announcement of my decision to run to represent House District 54 in Bend. We kicked off the announcement with a celebratory get-together at Deschutes Brewery. Over 180 guests attended from the Bend area. And now, with the new year upon us, my team and I are gearing up for a successful campaign in 2014.

In case you missed it, there’s been a number of media articles written about the announcement recently. Here are a few:

  • Holiday Reflections

It’s with gratitude, reflection and anticipation that I end this year, and look forward to what’s coming in 2014.

In 2013 my family was fortunate enough spend some quality time together, as well as work toward our own goals.

Both of my children, Owen and Hannah, have grown into such independent and confident young adults. It makes me happy to see them exploring and discovering their path. My wife Patty is thriving in her medical practice, InFocus Eye Care, and I have had the opportunity to fully focus on my patients, my practice, and my community.

Give something that makes a difference this year.

Give something that makes a difference this year.

It was a full and satisfying year to say the least. But, as I think of how blessed my family is, I am also aware of all of the families in our state who have struggled financially and physically this year.

I can’t help but see that Oregon is not meeting it’s full potential. Our schools rank 42nd in quality, our health care system is transforming in a way that excludes some and causes roadblocks for others, and our economy has not fully recovered from the recession.

There is much work to do in our state to ensure a better future for our children and loved ones. And, as a new year approaches, don’t forget to include the community in your thoughts, prayers and efforts as well.

Whether it be donating to your local food bank, participating in a gift drive for families in need, or making a financial contribution to a nonprofit of your choice. All of us can make a difference in someone’s life, and make their holidays just a little bit warmer. Find a local nonprofit to support here: http://greatnonprofits.org/

In 2014, we can start the real work of changing Oregon for the better. We need to see results in Salem that benefit all Oregonians.

That is my wish and my plan in the New Year. And, that’s why I need your help and support as I run to represent District 54 of Bend in the Oregon House.

Let’s start a new day in Oregon politics. From my family to yours, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
